Knoydart Wilderness Traverse

5 days

Knoydart Wilderness Traverse

Overview

Starting beneath the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct and finishing in the remote village of Inverie, this five-day expedition crosses one of the wildest and least accessible landscapes in Britain.

Knoydart is often described as Britain's last true wilderness. With no roads into Inverie, the only way through is on foot or by boat. Over five days we'll travel through remote glens, cross rugged mountain passes, camp beside sea lochs and experience a side of the Highlands that few people ever see.

Travelling as a small group, you'll learn how to move efficiently through remote country, refine your wild camping skills and gain confidence carrying everything you need for several days in the hills.

The journey finishes in Inverie, home to The Old Forge. After four days on the trail, a meal and drink overlooking Loch Nevis is a fitting end to an unforgettable adventure.

Who it's for

This expedition suits walkers with good hill fitness who are comfortable carrying a backpack for several consecutive days. Previous wild camping experience is helpful but not essential. The focus is on enjoying the journey through remote country rather than covering huge distances at speed.
