Knoydart Traverse: Inverie to Kinloch Hourn

Overview

Starting in the remote village of Inverie and finishing at Kinloch Hourn, this three-day expedition crosses one of the most spectacular and least accessible landscapes in the Scottish Highlands.

Knoydart is often described as Britain's last true wilderness. With no road access to Inverie and vast areas of rugged mountain country, it offers a rare opportunity to experience genuine remoteness while travelling on foot through one of Scotland's most iconic landscapes.

Over three days we'll journey through remote glens, cross the historic pass of Mam Barrisdale and camp in wild locations surrounded by mountains, sea lochs and some of the finest scenery in the Highlands. Carrying everything we need for the expedition, we'll experience the rewards of self-sufficient travel while developing the skills and confidence needed for multi-day journeys in remote country.

Travelling as a small group, you'll refine your wild camping skills, learn how to move efficiently with a loaded backpack and gain a deeper understanding of expedition life in the mountains. There will be time to enjoy the landscape, learn from your guide and appreciate the unique character of this remarkable corner of Scotland.

The journey finishes at Kinloch Hourn on the shores of Loch Hourn, often described as Britain's most beautiful sea loch. Arriving at the road head after three days in the wilderness provides a rewarding conclusion to an unforgettable Highland adventure.
