Knoydart Wilderness Traverse from Kinloch Hourne

Knoydart Wilderness Traverse from Kinloch Hourne

Overview

Starting at Kinloch Hourn and finishing in the remote village of Inverie, this three-day expedition crosses one of the most spectacular and remote landscapes in the Scottish Highlands.

Knoydart is often described as Britain's last true wilderness. With no roads into Inverie and vast areas of rugged mountain country, it offers a rare opportunity to experience genuine remoteness while travelling on foot through one of Scotland's most iconic landscapes.

Over three days we'll follow ancient routes through remote glens, cross the dramatic pass above Barrisdale and camp in wild locations overlooking sea lochs and mountains. Carrying everything we need for the journey, we'll experience the simple rewards of expedition travel while learning the skills and routines that make multi-day backpacking both enjoyable and sustainable.

Travelling as a small group, you'll develop confidence carrying a full expedition pack, refine your campcraft and gain a deeper understanding of moving efficiently through remote mountain terrain. There is plenty of time to enjoy the landscape, learn from your guide and experience the freedom that comes with self-sufficient travel.

The journey finishes in Inverie on the shores of Loch Nevis. After three days on the trail, arriving in Britain's most remote mainland village is a fitting end to an unforgettable Highland adventure.
