Cadair Idris and the Rhinogau: a three-day Welsh expedition

Overview

Three days across two of Eryri's most distinctive mountain landscapes — the mighty Cadair Idris and the remote, rocky Rhinogau. This is wild Wales at its rawest: dramatic ridgelines, sea views from high camps, and terrain that demands more than it gives easily. You'll learn the practical skills of multi-day mountain travel as you go — wild camping, navigation, pacing across serious ground — under the eye of guides who know these hills properly.

Who it's for

The trip suits adventurous hillwalkers ready to push through Wales' most dramatic and least-trodden mountains. You'll need solid fitness and an appetite for long days in rough country — but no technical mountaineering experience is required. Whether you're building toward bigger trips or after a proper mountain challenge in your own time zone, this one delivers isolation, real achievement, and the kind of country most walkers in Wales never see.

What you can expect

  • Three days carrying your kit across two of Eryri's great mountain ranges
  • A summit of Penygadair (Cadair Idris) on day one, from near sea level
  • Sea views from a high wild camp on Cadair's shoulder
  • A traverse of the Rhinogau — among the most rugged and remote terrain in Wales
  • Skills sharpened along the way: campcraft, route choice, weight management
  • A small group led by guides who know these mountains in every weather
