Helvellyn Guided Walk via Striding Edge

Overview

Helvellyn is one of the most celebrated mountains in the Lake District and a summit that has inspired generations of walkers. Rising above Ullswater and surrounded by dramatic ridges, tarns and sweeping views, it offers one of the finest mountain days in England.

This guided walk is led by a qualified Mountain Leader and is designed for those looking to enjoy a rewarding mountain day with the reassurance of expert guidance. Starting from Glenridding, we make our way onto the open fells before ascending towards Helvellyn's broad summit plateau. Along the way you'll enjoy spectacular views across the Eastern Fells, Ullswater and the wider Lake District National Park.

Where conditions and group ability allow, the route may include the famous Striding Edge ridge – one of the most iconic mountain routes in the UK. Route selection remains at the guide's discretion and may be adjusted to suit weather, ground conditions and the experience of the group.

At 950 metres above sea level, Helvellyn is England's third-highest mountain and offers far-reaching views across the surrounding peaks. After reaching the summit, we descend via a suitable route back towards Glenridding, completing a memorable day in the heart of the Lake District.

This is a full-day mountain walk suitable for reasonably fit walkers who are comfortable spending several hours on steep and uneven terrain. Small group sizes ensure a friendly atmosphere and allow your guide to provide support, local knowledge and mountain skills throughout the day.
